| Signal Hill resident Lawrence Miller, M.D. is Board Certified in Internal Medicine as well as Anesthesiology and specializes in Pain Medicine. He is a 1978 graduate of Cornell University, earning a degree in Biochemistry. He attended medical school at the State University of New York, Brooklyn and received his degree in 1982. His post- graduate training includes a residency program in Internal Medicine at Emory University and a residency in Anesthesiology at UCSD. He has published numerous articles and authored a chapter in a medical text. He practices what is known as Interventional Pain Management. He also has offices in Beverly Hills and Orange County Who Should Consider a Pain Management Consultation? If you suffer from strong pain that interferes with your work or personal life, pain that is chronic (three months duration or longer) and you have failed to improve with prior medical care, a Pain Management Consultation is appropriate. After a physical examination and review of available medical records, Dr. Miller may recommend medications, therapeutic nerve or facet blocks, trigger point injections or epidural steroid injections. In more difficult situations, he may consider treatment using implantable technologies such as a Spinal Cord Stimulator or Drug Infusion Systems. The Team Approach: Dr. Miller believes that the complexity of chronic pain management is often beyond the grasp of a single doctor or type of treatment. He has developed a program that relies on many different diagnostic and treatment approaches and the skills of complimentary medical specialties including his own expertise in medicine as well as chiropractic care, acupuncture and physical therapy. To make this unique philosophy a reality, Dr. Miller has teamed with physical therapists, chiropractic doctors, Robb Russell, D.C., Lawrence Domaracki, D.C. and Carla Scheel, D.C., as well as an acupuncturist, to offer a unique, patient centered, multi-specialty approach to the care of chronic pain. One of the many treatment options offered for chronic neck and back pain is the Non- Surgical Disc Repair Program. “Our programs rely on many different diagnostic and treatment approaches and the skills of complimentary medical pain specialties,” Dr. Miller notes. “We strive to look at the whole picture and then develop an individual treatment plan for each person’s needs. We provide a coordinated plan to increase each patient’s ability to function and improve the overall quality of life.” Dr. Miller adds, “Merging medical care, physical therapy and alternative health care into a team to benefit the patient certainly beats the turf wars fought between these groups in the past.” Dr. Miller receives referrals from local medical physicians in the Long Beach area and has developed a following by word-of-mouth. Patient satisfaction is high. |
